Recipe for the Brown Derby’s Hamburgers De Luxe, circa 1942.
1 lb. ground beef
1 egg, beaten
1 cup condensed chicken soup, strained
1/2 teaspoon English mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon melted butter
Directions: Mix ground beef, egg and chicken broth. Add the seasoning and melted butter and blend thoroughly. Form into about eight patties and brown each one quickly on both sides in hot fat. Serve between slices of hot buttered toast or buns.
