In 2010-2011, Internet rumors abounded that the popular Orange County burger place had poltergeist activity. Former employees were said to have occasionally witnessed frozen food getting tossed around the kitchen area late at night by invisible hands and that a freezer door once opened, dumping all of its contents onto the floor. Employees also allegedly heard the sound of disembodied laughter after 10:00 p.m., after the restaurant had closed.
Tom and Bill Gatsios opened the popular eatery around 1981 by taking over an abandoned Carl’s Jr. fast food restaurant (which had been there as early as 1968). Brea’s Best quickly became a hit and still has a loyal following today.
