Nothing says Old Testament more than a bunch of folks running around having strange sex and killing. In fact, that’s what angered God throughout the entire book. And, of course, folks in the 1920s paid good money to watch sex and violence so long as it had a Biblical moral at the end. Nobody understood the sexually repressed better than Hollywood director Cecil B. DeMille, who often made sinning look better than salvation.
